How it Started -
2004

It was 2004 in a local pub in Hengelo (Overijssel) when a bet arose the challenge to create a party shot. Armed with a saucepan, vodka and licorice, the journey of Dark Mark started in a home kitchen. After several experiments, a licorice liqueur was brewed that became so popular with visitors, that what started as a joke turned out to be a serious opportunity.

2005

With the success formula in hand, the next steps were taken to organise a first official production. After overcoming new challenges to make the translation from from kitchen to factory, the first 2.250 bottles of Dark Mark left the production line in 2005.

More fans -
2005 to 2008

In the following years, Dark Mark’s success grew and more and more enthusiasts became fans thanks to the most important asset; flavour! Wherever it was tasted, fans stood up.

Crossiing borders -
2009

At the end of 2009, the time came for Dark Mark to cross the border into Germany.

Evolution -
2010 to 2019

In the years that followed, Dark Mark continued to grow. The recipe remained unchanged, but the packaging was gradually overhauled. In addition to new variants, the bottle changed from a flowing shape with paper label to a sleek, full-colour sleeved product. Behind the scenes there were also new flavours developed.

Family expansion -
2020

After years of being on its own, the Dutch Licorice was accompanied by four additional flavours in the beginning of 2020; Green Apple, Fresh Strawberry, Honey Vanilla & Classic Cola.
